The Arts

Children engage in a broad range of creative, musical and dramatic experiences that support their imagination, self?expression and confidence. Being creative involves experimenting, taking risks, exploring new ideas and expressing thoughts and feelings in original ways. Through play?based opportunities, children explore colour, texture, materials, sound, movement and role?play as they develop their creative thinking.

At Holy Cross, children are encouraged to communicate their ideas and emotions through art and design, music?making, movement, dance, drama and imaginative play. These experiences help them develop fine motor skills, listening and responding skills, and an appreciation of rhythm, pattern and storytelling. The Arts provide a rich foundation for children to express themselves, collaborate with others and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
