The World Around Us

Children are naturally curious about their environment and the world around them. Through a wide range of play?based activities and experiences, they begin to develop important skills such as observation, exploration and early experimentation. Using their senses, children investigate their immediate indoor and outdoor surroundings, building an understanding of how things work and change.

At Holy Cross, we place particular emphasis on exploring the local environment. Children regularly take part in walks around the neighbourhood and visits to the nearby Waterworks Park, allowing them to observe nature, seasonal changes and community life first?hand. We also enrich their learning by providing opportunities for wider experiences, including trips to the farm and beach; also bringing visitors into the school. These experiences help children develop curiosity, confidence and a deeper connection to the world around them.
