Outdoor Play
At Holy Cross Nursery, we embrace the motto: “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.” Daily outdoor play is an integral part of our curriculum because we believe the outdoors provides one of the richest environments for young children to learn and thrive. Well-planned and well-resourced outdoor areas, supported by highly engaged adults, create joyful and exciting experiences where children develop new skills and make fresh discoveries.
Our nursery boasts two exceptional outdoor play areas, each designed to inspire curiosity and creativity:
- Back Playground: This dynamic space includes large climbing frames, a bicycle track, a Hobbit House, an obstacle course, and much more. It encourages physical development, problem-solving, and imaginative play, helping children build confidence and resilience.
- Front Nature-Based Playground: Here, children explore a willow dome, mud kitchen, and sensory garden, fostering a deep connection with nature. These features promote sensory experiences, creativity, and collaborative play, while supporting emotional well-being and environmental awareness.
Outdoor play at Holy Cross Nursery allows children to engage actively and purposefully, developing a positive attitude toward learning. Through exploration and discovery in nature, they become confident, motivated learners with a greater understanding of the world around them.
