About Us

Holy Cross Nursery School opened its doors in March 1994 and is a Catholic maintained school located in Holy Cross Parish, Ardoyne, North Belfast. Our purpose-built nursery provides a welcoming environment with spacious outdoor play areas at the front and rear of the building.

We have two classrooms, each offering 26 full-time places. The nursery day runs from 8:50am – 1:30pm (Monday to Thursday) and 8:50am – 12:40pm (Friday). To support families, we also provide an Early Morning Drop-Off (8:30am – 8:50am) and a Late Pick-Up service (Monday to Thursday, 1:30pm – 2:00pm).

Our facilities include a dedicated Nurture Room and a Multi-Purpose Room, used for supporting pupils with additional needs, parent engagement, and visits from outside agencies.

Healthy Eating

At Holy Cross Nursery School, we promote the importance of a healthy, balanced diet. Children enjoy a daily morning snack, which varies each day and includes options such as fruit, bread, and crackers. Our school catering team provides a nutritious, balanced meal every day. We encourage children to explore and taste a variety of foods, helping to establish healthy eating habits from an early age.

Parents as Partners

Parents are an integral part of nursery life and are warmly encouraged to participate in all aspects of our work—especially through our Shared Education ‘Buddy Up’ programme, which brings together families from Holy Cross and Edenderry Nursery Schools. We also provide resources such as ‘Busy Bee’ homework bags and ‘Big Bedtime Read’ library packs to support shared learning at home.

Our school is guided by a dedicated Board of Governors, who are committed to the wellbeing of staff, children, and parents, and to the ongoing development of the school.
