Language Development

Language development is inherent in everything we do, it is crucial to living and learning. We use language to communicate with others, to share and express feelings; to give and obtain information and develop thoughts and ideas. Being able to understand and use language allows children to interact socially and play together. In Holy Cross we have adapted many ways to help children communicate both verbal and non-verbal. We embrace Makaton and use visuals to help support learning and understanding of rules and routines, as well as enabling children to access all the areas of the curriculum in the school.
