At Holy Cross Nursery School our main focus is teaching our children through play and real life experiences. We do this in various ways and are always aiming to challenge our children to allow them to realise their potential and build confidence in a fun and structured environment. We have recently made many changes to our school in both our indoor and outdoor areas. We have play areas and play equipment that allow our children to be active and imaginative in their play. We recently added a quiet/sensory room for children to relax in, in small groups or go to if they are feeling overwhelmed in a busy classroom. We have also built a mud kitchen with soil and gravel pits outside for our children to enjoy some messy play. We hope to add to our outdoor area this year and are planning to build a Willow Dome in the coming months.

In light of the recent announcement by the First Minster and Deputy First Minster it is with a heavy heart we have had to close our nursery from Friday 20th March. The staff are devastated not to be able to see or teach your children for the foreseeable future. The staff worked hard to put together a Home learning pack for each child with lots of ideas, activities and resources you could use at home in the coming weeks and possibly months. It is our aim to continue to support your child's learning at home and will send through Seesaw the weekly learning intentions that would have been planned had the children been in school. The ideas which we suggest will hopefully blend into everyday life at home. Children thrive on routines and boundaries; therefore we suggest you try as much as it is possible to keep these in place at home. We hope our nursery family stays together and you keep in touch with us regularly through the Seesaw App sending us your photos of the children learning at home. If we can help you in any way please get in touch. You are the lucky one to have a preschool aged child, were everything in their world is perfect. Allow yourself to go to that world every now and the. We do it everyday in nursery!
