Physical Development

Physical development focuses on children’s gross and fine motor skills. Examples of gross motor skills are running, jumping, climbing, skipping, hopping, kicking and throwing. These skills help develop balance, control, co-ordination and an awareness of size, space and direction. Outdoor play can provide space and freedom to develop these skills. Fine motor skills such as grasping, screwing, pinching, picking, cutting and threading are important for the development of hand and eye co-ordination.
